NFL Power Rankings Week 6 Bets Reviewed

Espn comes out with their NFL power rankings today, Tuesday October 18th, 2010. Last week games and winners were matched up based on these power rankings. Now that the games have been played, let's compare results of Sunday's games compared to the power ranking predictions:

The Pittsburgh Steelers were ranked last week number 1. They anticipated the return of their leader and quarterback Ben Roethlisburger. Betters seemed to be hesitatant to pick the steelers because the dynamics had changed amongst a team that was performing well. Ben came back and did not waste any time passing for 257 yards , and providing the Steelers with a little more stability on offense and that quick strike big play ability, as the Steelers defeated the Browns one James Harrison hit at a time.

The game of the week between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots came down to the wire and did not dissapoint. The 6th ranked Ravens had a solid passing defense, so where did they lose this one? Brady picked apart this 2nd ranked pass defense throwing for 292 yards and 2 interceptions, a good amount of passing yards. The Ravens will likely drop down into the top ten NFL teams and out of the top 5. The Jets proved themselves worthy of remaining a top the NFL's elite top 5 teams, and rounds out the top 5 as one of three one loss teams. The Jets win over the Broncos was a slim victory which saw a penalty flag decide crucial end of the game points as Santonio Holmes battled Renaldo Hill near the goal line. Ladainian Tomlinson was truely the difference maker in this game, while the Jets rush D allowed more rushing yards than average. Note that if the Jets shakey run defense continues to look unstable, matchups against strong run offenses could create turmoil. Note that the Jets recieved a lot of help from the Broncos miscues, including two dropped interceptions one from Bailey the other coming from Perrish Cox.

The bets against the spread, saw Atlanta lose to Philidelphia, and the New Orleans Saints rolling over the Tampa Bay Bucaneers. We'll keep up with this later on in the week as we take a look at next weeks matchups.
